It is so so endearing when you see teenagers and kids having a good time and good skills too. We love conducting these school holiday classes because the children have so much fun. Children are the most creative lot. They are the first not to follow the instructor's instructions!

Looking for some bonding time with your kids or looking for interesting activities for your teenagers to do that will horn their skills. As we always say "learning to bake or cook is a life survival skill, not just a hobby". If you are interested in our teenagers and parent & child classes, our next batch of school holiday classes are in March 2015. So, don't wait, book them now on our website. Cake of the month - Dec 2014

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for Dec is Baby Rachel's full moon cake. We made a delicious moist chocolate cake covered with pink fondant for a pretty baby girl. It was a square cake rather than the conventional round ones topped with teddy, butterfly, presents, ribbons and hearts.

Li Hwa wrote to us and said she wanted a special designer fondant cake for her daughter's full moon. She sent us a photo of her dream cake and we re-created the design for her. We loved it and so did Li Hwa. It was so fabulous!

Well, we can't be happier than to know we have made someone happy. Have a special event coming up? Need a special cake? Food Styling & Food Photography Class - 28 Nov 2014

We were very excited when the date for our 1st Food Styling and Food Photography class, aptly named "Plate to Pixel", drew near. It was a beautiful morning with the sun shining bright and cheerful which was important to capture natural lighting (one of the pointers for good photography).

Our two photographers, Audrey and Michelle, were on hand to facilitate the class. Audrey started with a briefing to the participants on the 12 important pointers for food styling and photography. We can't help but noticed that our youngest participant was just 14 years old! Imam had great fun and so did the rest of the participants.

It was a very practical and hands-on class with everyone practising how to style food to make it look delicious, using natural ingredients like garlic oil. Next, out came i-pads, smart phones, SLR cameras to capture the food moments. Participants were taught how to shoot photos of the food in their best angle and lighting. Aids like reflectors and props and how to use them to take fabulous photos were explained. It was indeed a fun and fulfilling day.

For those of you who missed the class, we are running a similar class in Jan and Mar 2015. So, do look out for the dates in our new Class Calender Jan-Apr 2015 which will be up on our website after Christmas. For enquiries, you can call us at 016-377 8236.

Cake of the month - Nov 2014

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for Nov is a Wedding Cake. We were very excited when we got this order because it was such a simple yet elegant cake.

When Kah May contacted us to do her wedding cake, the brief was "No fuss, no need tiers, small cake will do, just simple white fondant with pink roses". She e-mailed us two pictures and asked us to do a combi of the two for her wedding cake. The result was simply beautiful and elegant, we almost cried! We nicknamed it the "white beauty". Hey, Kah May, we congratulate you and wish you happily ever after...

Well, we can't be happier than to know we have made someone happy. Have a special event coming up? Need a special cake? Private Class: Teach the Bride to Cook - 4 Oct 2014

When blogger, Swee San, got appointed as the organiser of one of her old time school friend's bridal shower, she contacted us. She thought it would be fun to have an all girls' cookout with a theme - Teach the Bride to Cook!

Swee San had specific recipes she wanted to do at the bridal party. It was going to be Mushroom Soup and Ravioli. This must be the bride's favourite dishes. So, we worked within Swee San's budget and came up with a fun day for the girls. Everyone learned the rudiments of making pasta from scratch and ravioli filing of chicken and cheese cooked in tomato sauce. There was also "real" mushroom soup with butter garlic toast. Yum!

Needless to say, the girls had lots of fun and did lots of catching up with each other. They chilled out later with a sit down lunch of what they have cooked. Cool!

What a great way to bond with friends and have a memorable bridal shower. If you would like to do a bridal shower with a difference, give us a call at 016-377 8236 or e-mail us at contact@at19culinary.com. We can help you fit any budget.

Cake of the month - Oct 2014

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for Oct is a black fondant cake with pink hearts and pink ribbon surrounded by pink cupcakes with a girl's favourite icons....handbag, lipstick and necklace. This was a special 21st Birthday cake for Jin Li.

When Jin Li contacted us to do her birthday cake, she wanted a simple yet very girly cake but black fondant. Strange we thought. So, we recommended pink hearts and ribbon to go with the black fondant to give contrast. She also wanted cupcakes and we suggested her to do 10 cupcakes to put around her 6 inch moist chocolate cake. The results were fabulous. Happy Birthday Jin Li!

Private Class: Dinner Roast Parties - 20 Sept 2014

When Edison Cheang of Environmental Resources Management (ERM) saw one of our cooking classes, Dinner Roast Parties, he was sold that this would be his team building event. He wrote to us and said they were very interested but the company had a smaller budget then the price we advertised on our website. Well, we said "no problem, we help you to fit any budget" and we did. So, the date was set.

The team arrived cheery and chirpy on a bright saturday morning, very excited about their class. Chef Khai explained to the team the recipes and showed cutting and cooking methods to be used before everyone break off to their groups and start cooking! There were lots of cutting, slicing, grilling, baking....all for a yummy treat.

The end results were simply delicious. After all the cooking was over, everyone had a sit down lunch enjoying what they have cooked for the day. The recipes were roast chicken with spinach stuffing, baked potato gratin and saffron rice.

Edison sent us an e-mail and said "It was a splendid event and all my colleagues had so much fun! Looking forward to have another cooking class with you all soon!". You are certainly most welcome Edison and to all at ERM. We were glad you had fun.

What a great way to bond with team mates and spend time away from work. If you would like to do a team building event, give us a call at 016-377 8236 or e-mail us at contact@at19culinary.com. We can help you fit any budget.

Disney Toys Cake

We had to put this cake up on our blog. It was fabulous after we were done with it. Sei Mun came to us to do a Minnie Mouse cake for her daughter, Cheryl's 1st Birthday but she had a special request. She asked us to help her put all the Disney toy toppers she bought on the cake for her. It was indeed a GEM of a cake. Happy Birthday Cheryl. We hope you liked the Disney Toy Cake we did for you!

Private Class: UOB Bank Cook Off - 16 Aug 2014

One of my ex-colleague, Veronia Chin suggested to her team at UOB Bank to do something "different" for a change. She was referring to their annual department team building activity. So, she gave our contact to her colleagues, Mimi and Benjamin, who were organising their department's team building event this year.

The organisers wanted to do a departmental cook off a la master chef and have a little cooking competition amongst themselves. They came to us to rent our kitchen studio and have lunch too. We discussed their needs. They came to recce our kitchen studio and the date was set.

Everyone arrived huff and puff with grocery shopping bags from their morning marketing. After the morning welcome and some administrative rules, the cook-off began. There was cutting, grinding, scooping, frying, boiling, washing, talking and laughing along the way.

After 3 hours of gruelling cooking, the dishes were finally completed by the teams and judging began. Winners were announced and it was time to sit down and eat their hard earned lunch. Everyone had great fun.

What a great way to bond with team mates and spend time away from work. If you would like to do a team building event, give us a call at 016-377 8236 or e-mail us at contact@at19culinary.com. We can help you fit any budget.

Cake of the month - Sept 2014

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for Sept is a 2-tier fondant Minion Cake. This was a special cake for little Emma who turned 2. The moist chocolate cake in blue and pink fondant (girl's favourite colour) with the little yellow Minions in their smart blue uniforms "guarding" the cake, looked absolutely fabulous.

When one of our team building customers, Valerie contacted us to do a cake for her daughter's birthday, we were delighted. Valerie wanted a Minion cake and so, we recommended her our design. The decision was quick as the cake as so so cute. A wonderful cake to show off to family and friends at Emma's birthday party!

Cake of the month - Aug 2014

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for Aug is a 2-tier Macarons Cake. This was a special cake to celebrate Abby's 21st birthday. The moist chocolate cake filled and frosted with chocolate ganache looked fabulous.

When Abby whatsapp us to do a Macarons cake, she sent us so many designs. She couldn't make up her mind as to the final design and so, we helped her out. We discussed what is it she liked about the cake pictures she sent over and we recommended her a final design marrying some of the cake designs from the pictures. Abby was happy with the final result and so were we. Great cake to show off to family and friends at her birthday party!

Private Class: Neural Tech - 21 July 2014

Julia of Neural Tech thought that it would be good fun to have a team building cookout in the last week of the fasting month and then break fast eating what they have cooked together. We thought it was a superb idea too.

The team had a fantastic learning experience with Chef Khai cooking Malaysian Flavours comprising Kerabu Pucuk Paku, Ayam Percik and Bubur Cha-Cha. The dishes were then served with drinks, ketupat and satay sauce compliments from us. It was indeed a hearty buka puasa meal indeed. Everyone enjoyed cooking and tasting their food after.

What a great way to bond with team mates and spend time to relax away from work. If you would like to do a team building event, give us a call at 016-377 8236 or e-mail us at contact@at19culinary.com. We can help you fit any budget.

Cake of the month - July 2014

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for July is a 6-tier Wedding Cake. We are especially proud of this wedding cake for two reasons. It is our first 6-tier cake. Wow! It is for our Baker cum Culinary Instructor, Suraiya's wedding. Yeh!

This wedding cake is a 6-tier fondant cake decorated using stenciling. Sandy painstakingly did the stenciling with precision and accuracy and the results was marvellous. Suraiya was very happy with the cake and everyone at the wedding was estatic at such a beautifully crafted wedding cake.

Well, we can't be happier than to know we have made someone happy. Have a special event coming up? Need a special cake?
