Private class - Stephanie & Mum

We conducted a private cooking class for Canadians, Stephanie and her mum who were on their Asia Pacific tour. Both are food enthusiaists and insisted to have culinary classes in each country that they visited. Fresh from cooking classes in Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and now Malaysia, both mother and daughter were keen to learn what Malaysian cuisine was all about.

Under the guidance of Chef Bee and interpreter, Lisa, Stephanie and Mum Pih Yun had a whale of a time learning about the different spices and herbs used in Malaysian cooking inspired by the different cultures in Malaysia. Both learnt to cook delicious Chicken Rendang, Yellow Fish Curry, Fruit & Vegetable Kerabu Salad and Pengat Pisang.

This is what Stephanie has to say - "My mum and I are thrilled to come to your cooking school. The recipes taught are simple for me to practise again when I am back in Canada. The food is delicious and not too spicy. I especially liked the Chicken Rendang and Yellow Fish Curry. At 19 Culinary Studio is fabulous and our best wishes to you."

Thai Cooking class - 20 Feb

Everyone loves Thai food! That was enough to motivate our students to get up early last sunday morning to come together with Chef Khai to whip up some delicious Thai cuisine. On arrival, the students enjoyed freshly baked crusty bread with coffee to start off their day.

Students learnt how to make Panang curry paste from scratch. This is the red curry paste used to make delicious Thai dishes. Using the paste they have made, the students cooked the Panang (red) curry chicken and chicken tom yom in coconut milk. Chef Khai shared with students the uses of different herbs and spices in Thai cooking and the versatility of deciding how "hot & spicy" they wanted a dish to be to suit different taste buds.

Fellow malaysians "pedas kaki", Mdm Mok, Zuriah and Jessica wanted theirs extra "pedas" whilst expats, Nadine, Joanne, Mike and Hajnalka decided to go easy on the chilis. Both versions tasted just as good. Chef Khai whipped up some Thai spring rolls as a bonus recipe for the students. Everyone enjoyed the class and went home with a bottle of their Panang curry paste for more Thai cooking at home.

Cake of the month - January 2011

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for Jan is a two tier Birthday Cake for Jessie’s 30th birthday bash. Jessie sent us a picture of what she would like her cake to look like and asked if we could re-create the design and change the colours to red and gold. Jessie was very pleased when she collected her cake and said “Oooh! It is so beautiful, worth the money I paid. Wished I had ordered a bigger one”.

Well, we are very happy that you absolutely adored the cake Jessie. Hope you had a wonderful birthday bash. Happy Birthday!
