Danone Dumex Media Event - 19 June 2014

At 19 Culinary Studio hosted a media event for Danone Dumex to promote a "gut health" milk powder suitable for young children. Danone Dumex "Let It Out" event was aimed at creating public awareness on the importance of gut health in children and at the same time treated the press and media to a fun time cooking healthy recipes which mothers can cook with their children.

Ms Goo Chui Hoong, qualified dietitian and chef instructor at At 19 Culinary Studio, started the event with a presentation on "Getting Children to Eat Healthy" followed by a cooking class with 2 recipes which promotes gut health - wheatgerm pizza with toppings and chilled chocolate banana tofu pudding. Yum!

The participants were super excited and cooked up a storm. By the end of the class, there were loads of delicious pizza in all shapes and sizes for all to enjoy. The participants were also treated to a buffet lunch spread. Everyone was healthily full and happy.

If you are looking for a culinary studio to launch a product or hold an event, please contact us at contact@at19culinary.com. We will be glad to help you.

Private Class: Luxasia - 25 June 2014

Trainer for Luxasia, Adrian Sin, wanted a fun time out for his Guerlain fragrance sales consultants as part of his training programme. We thought it was a wonderful idea. Luxasia represents cool brands like Anna Sui, Burberry, Bvlgari, Calvin Kein.... the list goes on.

Adrian discussed their needs with us and since Guerlain is a french brand, we decided to conduct a Macarons class for them. Adrian also wanted to add on another simple baking using honey as one of the ingredients which is represented in their latest Guerlain fragrance. Wow! We suggested Honey Cupcakes with a bumble bee fondant icon. That will be fun.

Fun indeed it was. The team arrived cheery and chirpy, very excited about their class. Our cake decorator, Sandy, took them thru the rudiments of piping and baking the multi-coloured macarons using the french method (of course)!

The end results were simply brilliant given that almost everyone had never baked before but now, they are self proclaimed master chefs of macarons. Yeah! Everyone was so happy with their effort, not to mention the lovely macarons and cupcakes they get to take home to show off to their family and friends.

What a great way to bond with team mates and spend time away from work. If you would like to do a team building event, give us a call at 016-377 8236 or e-mail us at contact@at19culinary.com. We can help you fit any budget.

Cake of the month - June 2014

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for June is a 4-tier Mickey Mouse Cake. This was a special cake to celebrate little Viroshan’s 3rd birthday. Mum Pravinah who was coming up all the way from Johor Bahru to KL to celebrate the son's birthday, said that It was gonna be a party for 70-80 people.

So, we suggested our 3-tier Mickey Mouse Celebration cake but add on another 10 inch tier with Mickey Mouse icons. Pravinah was happy with the 4-tier design and what a fantastic cake it was to show off to family and friends at the birthday party.

Well, we can't be happier than to know we have made someone happy. Have a special event coming up? Need a special cake? Take a peek at our Cake Creations gallery: http://www.at19culinary.com/gallery_cake.html. For enquiries on our custom order designer cakes, please send us an e-mail at contact@at19culinary.com. We try to help fit all budgets.

New Indian Kitchen Cookbook

One of our culinary instructors, Chef Sapna Anand, has recently launched her 1st cookbook entitled "New Indian Kitchen". Chef Sapna is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Dusit Culinary School in Bangkok, Thailand.

The cookbook infuses traditional indian cooking with western ingredients and techniques. Executive Master Chef Fabrice Danniel of Le Cordon Bleu Dusit Bangkok was particularly impressed with Chef Sapna's delighful Keema Lasagna, Beetroot Carpaccio & Paneer Salad and Rose Chocolate Squares dessert. These, he said, are exquisite examples of the results of marrying indian style cooking with western techniques.

The cookbook has a spice section which explains the different types of spices used in indian cooking. The recipes are divided into Brunch & Bites, Meals Best shared with Family & Friends, Quick & Easy Meals and Something Sweet.

Chef Sapna also explains what are the different techniques and methods that are regularly used in indian cooking such as dry roasting, tempering, smoking, marinades and pastes. She even has recipes on how to make your own paneer and garam masala.

This cookbook is available for sale at RM39.90 in major bookstores or you can purchase from our website eStore at http://www.at19culinary.com/category-57028.html.

Private Class: WAKE Children - 31 May 2014

When Shin contacted us to conduct a baking class for the WAKE orphanage, we were delighted to be part of a project to bring a little cheer and joy to these children. As part of corporate social responsibility, we conducted the class for Shin at a nominal fee to cover our cost, which means we make no money out of it. We agreed to do a cupcake baking and decorating class for the children.

As the children arrived on that saturday afternoon, they were shy and kept very much to themselves but once the class started and everyone start to get their hands onto the butter, sugar and eggs, the shyness disappeared. They were an enthusiastic bunch who have never done any baking before but their creativity shine through when they started to shape fondant into various designs to decorate their cupcakes. Needless to say, everyone had a fun time including the volunteers who were present to lend the children a hand.

Well, we were happy that we made a group of children very happy too! If you have a CSR project and would like to conduct a baking class, talk to us at 016-377 8236 or send us an e-mail at contact@at19culinary.com. We will be glad to assist.
