Teenagers' Baking Bootcamp - 9 to 11 June
Our first Teenagers' Baking Bootcamp which ran for 3 days from 9 to 11 June was a success. Teenagers of all ages learnt tips and techniques in baking and decorating Cookies on Day 1, Macaroons on Day 2 and Fondant Cupcakes (Underwater World theme) on Day 3. The children absolutely enjoyed the classes. They were so creative and talented. Their designs though amatuerish but had great concepts and ideas behind them. With more practice, they may just be the master baker in the making!
The Teenagers' Baking Bootcamp was part of our School Holiday special classes designed for kids of all ages. For the little ones (age 4 to 6 years), we ran sugar craft classes where they learnt to model sugar dough into various designs. We also ran Parent & Child baking and cooking classes. Everyone had a whale of a time At 19. If you missed our classes this school holidays, look out for the next one in July/August.

At 19 Kitchen featured in DIGI Internet for All advertisement
If you keep your eyes glued to the TV over astro, you will notice At 19’s kitchen was the backdrop in the latest DIGI ad “Internet for All”. There is this charming guy who said “I free my passion” holding up a box of macaroons. Yes! The backdrop kitchen is At 19’s. Our first exposure to nationwide TV audience!
What you see Man with Macaroons in the 3 seconds ad actually took 5 hours to shoot! There was like 30 people from the production house and the advertising agency doing their stuff At 19’s kitchen. Here are some photos we took which we couldn’t post earlier until the ad was out on TV. See the rest of the photos in our Facebook www.facebook.com.at19culinary

At 19 Father's Day Event - 5 June
It was a lazy sunday morning on 5 June. Everyone was still in bed when we were setting up our stuff for the Father’s Day event. At 19 Culinary Studio in partnership with Parenting2u organized a Father’s Day event at our school’s premised and there were lots of activities. Parents and children started arriving from 10.30am and the event ended around 1pm with a delicious sumptuous lunch for everyone.
The kids were thrilled with Auntie Angie’s story telling of mermaids and pirates. Clown Jelly was busy twisting and making toy balloons for our eager little angels. There was tattoo painting as well and the kids had them on their faces, hands and any other body parts you can imagine! The adults were treated to cooking and baking demo workshops. There were also talks by Dr Alvin Ng on Parent & Child Bonding whilst Mr How chatted on Nurition for Children. Parents gained wonderful insights into these two interesting and close to heart topics. It was indeed a day of fun and laughter.

Parent & Child School Holiday Classes
The school holidays are here again. To some mothers, this is a time to take leave off work and spend some quality time with their children. To others, this is the time when they have to scout for fun activities for their children. Skills learning is often high on the wish list for parents looking for quality activities for their children to engaged in and at the same time learn some useful skills which they can apply to everyday life.
If you are looking for something different this school holiday season, why not let your children try out their skills at cooking and baking. Knowing how to cook or bake is a survival skill vital for children in their everyday life especially when they are older and goes to study abroad. Many children nowadays are spoilt to bits, they have maids to do everything for them. Surely, they need not cook or bake. But hey, you may discover a hidden talent in your children. Cooking and baking helps to bring out a child’s curiosity and hidden creativity. It also helps as a stress reliever and the shy ones usually make new friends in a class with other children.
In every class, the children will learn to use all their five senses to see, hear, smell, touch and taste everything giving them a whole new learning experience in the art of cooking and baking. For school holiday fun, check out our class calendar at www.at19culinary.com/schedule.html

Cake of the month - May 2011
It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for May is a two tier Baby Shower Cake for Mrs Dats’ baby boy, Abdul Karim’s family party. Mrs Dats got in touch with us at the very last minute in search of a cake for her baby shower family party and asked is we could accede to her request. She sent us a picture of what she would like her cake to look like and we re-created the design for her. Mrs Dats was very pleased when she collected her cake.
Well, we are very happy that the new mum absolutely adored the cake. Hope baby Abdul Karim had a whale of a time at his baby shower party!
