Best in the World Cookbook 2013

Malaysian cookbook "Food for Your Eyes" wins at the 2013 Gourmand Awards. This cookbook co-authored by Dr Kenneth Fong (consultant ophthalmologist and retinal surgeon) and Ms Goo Chui Hoong (dietitian and culinary instructor at At 19 Culinary Studio). We are so proud of Ms Goo who teaches healthy cooking classes on request at our culinary studio. This was her first attemp in co-authoring a cookbook with her husband, Dr Fong and it was an effort well worth the praise.

The cookbook won the Best in the World Cookbook (Health & Nutrition category) at the renowned Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Paris, France on 23 Feb 2013.

"Food for Your Eyes" is more than a cook book as it also highlights basic facts about common eye diseases, including age related macular degeneration and how food can help prevent or reduce the risk of blindness. The cookcook contains over 50 recipes from breakfast to dinner and desserts, all home-made recipes created, tried and tested by Ms Goo. Recipes are simple and easy to read. Instructions are easy to follow and it shows how eye-healthy ingredients can be incorporated into everyday meals.

The cookbook is retailing at RM39.90. If you would like to get a copy, do get in touch with us at 016-377 8236. If you would like Ms Goo to conduct a healthy cooking class for you, please e-mail us at19culinary[at]yahoo.com.

Cake of the month - Jan 2013

It’s time again for us to feature our “Cake of the month” to showcase what we consider our best custom made order cake. The Cake of the month for Jan is actually two cakes! We made these two cakes as twin cakes to celebrate a birthday for twins! How cool is that!? Both cakes are in the shape of a storybook. Fairytake tories are told.....one tells a story of Cinderella in Winter Wonderland and the other is a Magical Garden story. The cakes were gorgeous. The decorations are made from fondant and icing dolls.

Have a special event coming up? Need a special cake? Take a peek at our Cake Creations Gallery: http://www.at19culinary.com/gallery_cake.html. For enquiries on our custom order designer cakes, please send us an e-mail: at19culinary [at] yahoo.com.

Private Class: Ikano Asia - 21 Jan 2013

Ikano Asia wanted to bring together 17 people from different nationalities for an evening of fun. What better way to do a teambuilding activity than to cook together and have fun eating afterwards. Sonia and Erik-Jan liaised with us to come up with a proposal for an evening of comradeship. We proposed to take them on an "Asian Adventure", cooking dishes from around Asia. The recipes included Thai Mango Salad, Nyonya Baked Fish, Chicken Satay with Peanut sauce and Tom Yam Seafood Soup. Chef Khai conducted the cooking class and needless to say everyone had lots of fun learning about the different herbs and spices used in asian cooking.

The test was in the taste when everyone sat down for a well deserved dinner. There were lots of laughter as everyone was relaxed and enjoying the food and the evening. Ikano Asia made it possible for their team. Go set up more Ikea stores!

If you would like to do a teambuilding event, give us a call at 016-377 8236 or e-mail us at19culinary [at] yahoo.com. We can help you fit any budget.
