at19Culinary at the Christmas Around the World Carnival

We went offsite to promote our school again this month. On a bright sunday morning, we were in the heart of KL (18 Dec 2010, 10am - 2pm) at the Christmas Around the World Carnival. The carnival was held at the KL Baptist Church at Changkat Bukit Bintang. Our Christmas cookies (3pcs for RM8) sold like hot cakes. We also had order enquiries on hand-made Christmas fondant cakes and cupcakes which were on display.

Our “Decorate a Cookie” activity was again a hit with the kids. They were creative in decorating their cookies with icing sugars of different colours as well as sprinkles to create Christmas designs under the guidance of Decorator Han. We were pleasantly surprised at the artistic talents of the children in designing their very own cookies to take home. Many did seconds too!

For the final results of our Free Baking/Cooking Class Giveaway Contest, we have decided to be generous. After all it is a time for giving with Christmas just a few days away!. There are 5 winners for the month of Dec since there were only 3 winners in Nov. The 5 lucky winners are......

We were at the Valencia Christmas Fair last Saturday (11 Dec 2010, 4pm - 8pm). The fair was held in the Valencia township in Sungai Buloh. Many visitors to our stall were amazed with the designs of our hand made Christmas fondant cakes and cupcakes. We also baked Christmas cookies for sale.

This is the second time we had a stall in Valencia and the kids were already lining up when we were setting up our stall! They all wanted to take part in our "Decorate a Cookie" activity. Our Christmas Cake Decorating class was a small cosy group. Under the guidance of Decorator Han, students learnt how to make fondant from scratch, how to mix and get colours just right. Students also learnt how to use fondant to decorate and create a beautiful custom designed Christmas cake to take home.

We were suprised by the creativity from our students, some of whom have not done cake decorating before. Everyone was happy with their personally decorated Christmas cake....oooh! Too good to eat!

Flavours of Malaysia 2 Cooking Class – 28 Nov

Our Flavours of Malaysia 2 Cooking Class was a class of sorts. We had our culinary foodies from Open Day, our Weekly Free Baking/Cooking Class Giveaway Winners for Nov and our foreign visitors all the way from Austria. Chef Khai started the class teaching everyone the rudiments of cooking Rendang Tok, followed by mouth watering Sweet & Sour Crab and lastly, a refreshing Sarawak Umai (raw salmon fish salad).

Working in pairs, everyone cooked up a storm under the guidance of Chef Khai. Students also learnt how to plate their dishes beautifully. Cameras snapped away. The dishes were the celebrities for the day! Lunch was served and everyone got to taste their own cooking as well as dishes of other students for comparison in smell, taste and texture.

This is what our students and Weekly Free Baking/Cooking Class Giveaway Winners for Nov have to say about At 19 Culinary Studio:-

Kareen Lee, engineer/blogger, 25
I enjoyed the lesson and will be back for more. Chef Khai made cooking Rendang Tok so easy. Thank you so much for the class.

Dr Walter Gluck & Karl Ecker, Medical Doctor & Professional Cook (Austria)
We booked our class from Vienna thru the internet. Booking was easy and response to our enquiries was fast. The school has a very nice set up and good ambiance. We enjoyed our class. We would rate our entire experience at the school as excellent.

Clarence Yap, Businessman, 56
I have not cooked before and came to class rather apprehensive about cooking. I wanted to learn and cook for my family as eating healthy is important nowadays. I enjoyed the class and have signed up for more classes.

Shan Lyn, accountant/blogger, 25
The entire experience was excellent. The ambiance and classroom set up was good. The welcoming by the staff was very warm.

Wanna try out our classes? All classes at 10% discount until 31 Dec. Find out more at Our Cooking Class Calendar.
